Frequently Asked Questions

How do I take care of my tub after it has been refinished?
Taking care of your newly re-finished bathtub is easy. Do not use cleaners that contain abrasives, acid, or bleach nor should you use abrasive pads, this will eventually damage or dull the finish. A soft cloth or sponge along with a non-acidic, non-abrasive, non-bleaching cleaner will work perfect to keep your bathtub clean.

How long will the refinished surface last?
With the proper care and maintenance, expect 8-12 years of service, The coating system applied to your kitchen or bath room hard surfaces is a product specifically designed for bathtubs, shower stalls, counters and tile, its not a D.I.Y kit from a big box home store. I use the latest coating technologies and applications designed in and for the 21st century.

Will my bathtub look like it has been painted?
If its not done by a Bathtub Refinishing Professional, YES, it will.

How long does the refinishing process take?
Refinishing a bathtub typically takes between 3 to 4 hours depending on the condition of the tub. Counter tops being refinished in a solid color take about the same amount of time. Our Stone or Granite look counters take up to 2 hours longer to complete but the end result is amazing.

My tub is another color, can you refinish it in white?
Absolutely, in fact pure white is the most popular color requested by my other customers.

What other colors can you refinish in?
Standard colors are, Pure white, porcelain white, and Bone. Upon request I can do custom color matching in just about any color. In addition, I carry multi-color finishes for counters, tile walls, and floors.

Does the refinishing process smell? Is there any risk to my family or pets?   I use state of the art ventilation systems to exhaust refinishing fumes and any dust from over-spray or sanding to the outside of the home. In addition, I enclose the work area so the refinishing work will not be as noticed in other parts of the home. This makes the process completely safe for people and pets. Although initially you may notice a residual paint smell after completion, most of the odor will be gone after a few hours. Please be advised to keep the bathroom door closed for up to 4 hours after completion.

Do you remove the caulking and re-caulk around the tub when you’re done?
Yes, it is important  to remove all caulking before I start reconditioning the tub. Once the refinishing work is completed, I will apply a smooth, clean caulk line around the tub before I leave.

Do I need to do anything before you arrive?
Please remove all items from bathroom, personal hygiene items, floor mats, towels, etc.. Check to see that the drain is not clogged, and that there are no leaky faucets, leaks or drips need to be be fixed prior to refinishing.

Do you guarantee your work?
Yes, for our residential clients we give a 3 year warranty that the refinished fixture will not, chip, peel , blister, flake off or lose adhesion on its own. Man made damage, neglect, failure to follow the care and maintenance directions or any adjustments done by anyone other than ADX Refinishing will null and void the warranty. Caulking and grout not installed by ADX Refinishing isn’t covered under this warranty.

Do you charge for an estimate?
